About the Laboratory

Engineering a more personal future for healthcare.

We bring semiconductors, artificial intelligence, sensing, and the life sciences together to imagine new ways to understand the human body—and to help make healthcare more precise, connected, and responsive.

We work closley with other MIT programs including MIT HEALS and the MIT Program for Health Sciences & Semiconductors.

OUR MISSION

Make healthcare more connected, intelligent, and personal.

The Waves, Bits & Molecules Laboratory explores how advances in semiconductor technology can open new possibilities for health sciences.

Our multidisciplinary program brings together expertise in microelectronics, machine learning, biochemistry, materials science, biomedical imaging, and sensing. We work toward intelligent systems that can monitor biological signals over time and help enable more personalized approaches to health and wellness.

The big idea is simple: when we connect the physical world of waves and molecules with the digital world of bits, we can create new tools for understanding biology and supporting better care.

THREE WORLDS. ONE SHARED AMBITION.

Waves. Bits. Molecules.

Our name reflects the connected layers of technology and science that make next-generation health innovation possible.

WHAT WE’RE WORKING TOWARD

From fundamental science to meaningful impact.

Our research program spans technologies, methods, and questions that connect engineering with health and human experience.

Help shape the next generation of health technologies.

We welcome curious minds, bold ideas, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
